Teddy Bear Affair

On Saturday, November 15th, 2008, 1,000 guests gathered at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to host the 22nd annual Teddy Bear Affair.  This year’s Teddy Bear Affair took guests on an Indian inspired experience- and raised $1.4 million dollars in the process. Presented by CIBC World Markets Children’s Foundation and CGI, the dollars raised go directly to helping at risk children and youth across the country.

Guests enjoyed a variety of talent that brought the theme to life including the Toronto Tabla Ensemble and renowned Tabla Girl, Tina Sugandh.  Breakfast Television hosts Dina Pugliese and Kevin Frankish brought their magical morning style to the stage as they played event hosts for the evening.  Members of the Bhangara Group from S.G.P.D Entertainment had guests on their feet with their high energy dance performance.  Headliner Jim Cuddy and the Jim Cuddy Band got the party started and house-band Shugga had guests rocking the dance floor until the wee hours of the morning.

During the course of the evening, guests mingled and shopped the silent auction area which featured over 200 packages.  Bidding during the Live Auction took an exciting spin as guests outbid each other for a wide range of fabulous prizes including a trip to New York to meet Malcolm Gladwell and, in the spirit of the night, a trip to India.

The Teddy Bear Affair has raised over $18 million to date for some of the most disadvantaged children in our community.  One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, enrichment opportunities and education programs.

Thank you to all our generous sponsors and volunteers have made a difference in the lives of children because of their investment in the Teddy Bear Affair and the Children’s Aid Foundation.
