Blue Jays back to back World Series reunion

30 players and coaches confirmed to participate

TORONTO, April 2 /CNW/ - The team that brought home back-to-back World
Series titles will reunite for a special three-day celebration this summer.
Fan favourites Joe Carter, Robbie Alomar, Paul Molitor, Devon White and John
Olerud will be on hand, along with 25 teammates and coaches to commemorate one
of the most memorable chapters in Toronto's sports history.
The August 6th-8th reunion weekend, which will feature a golf tournament,
Fan Fest and other opportunities for fans to reconnect with some of their
favourite Blue Jays, will mark the largest collection of players to assemble
in Toronto since the actual championship seasons. The highlight will be a
special Flashback Friday tribute will be hosted on August 7 prior to the game
against the Baltimore Orioles.
Interim Blue Jays President and CEO Paul Beeston was joined in Toronto
today by Joe Carter to announce details of the reunion weekend.
"Everyone remembers where they were when Joe hit the homerun to win the
1993 World Series," said Paul Beeston. "We've all got a story to tell, and
this celebration is about reliving some great memories, as well as creating
some new ones. It's a great way for the city to come together for what
promises to be an exciting weekend."
The Blue Jays have teamed up with Rogers and TD Bank Financial Group to
sponsor the reunion, which will raise money for the Jays Care Foundation and
the Children's Aid Foundation.
"Our fans gave us the edge, they made the difference during those
championship seasons," said Joe Carter, who played a key role in organizing
the reunion. "Everyone on the team still has a special connection to the city
because of them. That's why we're excited to come back for the reunion
weekend. It's an opportunity to say how much we appreciate this city, and our
fans."
