Children's Aid Foundation scores a hole-in-one

June 29, 2009

The Children's Aid Foundation hit the green with 140 of Canada's most influential businesswomen on June 22, 2009 to raise funds for abused and neglected children at the 9th Annual Women's Golf Classic, presented by Rogers Group of Companies.

Through a day filled with memorable golf, pampering and camaraderie out on the links, the Children's Aid Foundation has raised $208,000 for Canada's most vulnerable children. Over the past nine years, the Foundation has raised
more than $1.8 million dollars through the Women's Golf Classic.

"The Women's Golf Classic was an incredible event this year. The commitment of our participants and corporate partners helped make the day a great success," said Ann Barnard Ball, executive director, Children's Aid Foundation. "With the funding raised from the event, our communities' most vulnerable children will have access to programs that will help them reach their full potential. Even in an uncertain economy, these women and our sponsors are dedicated to helping children and youth in need."

Female executives from Canada's top corporations headed to the green for a round of golf at the award-winning Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario.
However, it wasn't just birdies and tee-offs for them. These women also enjoyed a multitude of spa services, including manicures and massages, food sampling throughout the day, a cocktail reception, prize-winning opportunities, including BMW vehicles, and scheduled golf clinics hosted by LPGA professional Sandra Post. Sportsnet reporter, Martine Gaillard hosted the dinner and award show at the end of the day.

"The Rogers team is always pleased to invest time and resources in the communities where we live, work and serve," said Tara Deakin, Vice President, Training and Development, Rogers Communications. "Rogers is excited to be a sponsor and we applaud the deep commitment of those involved in The Women's Golf Classic to helping our communities' most vulnerable children and youth."

Rogers Group of Companies has been the presenting sponsor of the event for six years in a row. The National Bank Financial Group provided sponsorship for the Reverse Draw where the winner took home a trip for two to Jamaica. The National Post and Chatelaine returned as media sponsors and helped the Foundation to promote the 9th Annual Women's Golf Classic.
