  • +FAQ
Who will be receiving the gifts I donate?
The recipients are identified by the child welfare agencies CAF has partnered with for Fill the Sleigh. The children and youth who receive Fill the Sleigh gifts are in contact with child protective services; living at home and receiving protective intervention from a child welfare agency, living in kinship care with a relative, living in a foster home or group home or living independently as a young person transitioning out of care.

What is the benefit of giving cash?
All cash donations through Fill the Sleigh are divided between our 5 agency partners in order to help support more vulnerable children and youth in our communities over the holiday season.

What is the benefit of giving a gift card?
Gift cards empower young people to purchase the essential items that they need and provide the flexibility to select what is most appropriate to suit their needs – whether it is food, clothing, personal hygiene items or household items.

    Where should I shop?
Walmart is a good option as it carries a wide variety of products at a lower cost. Other suggestions include No Frills, Metro, Toys R Us, H&M, Old Navy, American Eagle, Sport Chek and Best Buy.

    How much should I spend?
    Recommended - $100/individual

Will I get a tax receipt?
If you make an online donation with your credit card, you will receive your tax receipt for the full donation amount by email. If you would like a tax receipt for a purchased gift/gift card donation, please provide your receipts, full contact information and mailing information in a clearly labeled envelope. Note that we cannot receipt on the HST. A tax receipt will be mailed to you in the new year.

    Should I provide gift receipts?
