HELP WITH HIGHER EDUCATION

Go to school

We can help you with scholarships, bursaries, and graduation awards. We offer scholarships and bursaries for youth from care up to their 30th birthday who are attending post-secondary studies at a college or university or in a trade.

Scholarships are awarded once a year through a competitive process and decisions are made by the Foundation’s Award Committee. Scholarships for the 2017-18 school year ranged from $2,500 to $5,000.

To be eligible for a scholarship applicants should:

  • be registered at or planning to attend school full time for two semesters within an academic year at an accredited post-secondary school
  • have been a Crown (or permanent) Ward for a period of at least one year
  • be under 26 at the start of the current school program, or under 30 if you have received Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada funding for the same program in previous years

The scholarship application deadline for the 2017-18 school year has passed, but applications for the 2018-19 school year will be available in late December 2017.

If you have any questions about eligibility or would like any more information please contact Simon at ssutherland@cafdn.org.

Thank you for your interest in this year’s Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada Bursary Award.

Applications are now closed for 2017/18 Bursaries.

Children’s Aid Foundation has had a record number of applications for scholarships and bursaries this year. We are motivated by students’ interest and desire to fulfill their academic goals, and we are committed to helping as much as we are able.

If you have been awarded a scholarship, you will have been notified by Children’s Aid Foundation. Bursary recipients were notified by July 31, 2017

At this time, we have distributed all available funds allocated to the bursary program this year.

We have been successful in distributing over 65 Bursaries this year, and our team is putting our best efforts into securing donations that will enable us to re-open the program.

Bursaries are one important part of our overall Post-Secondary Education Program and we continue to reach out to our donors and supporters and hope that we’ll be able to fulfill more requests in the near future.

Graduating? High fives! We offer awards of $500 per year (of full-time studies or the equivalent) of your program to youth from care who have received post-secondary supports from the Foundation and are under the age of 30 for the awesome achievement of completing their studies. So if you completed a 3-year diploma, you could receive $1,500! We review applications every June and we’ll need a completed application, proof of graduation (like a transcript) and a thank-you letter.

We accept these applications throughout the year, review all applications in June and distribute awards in September.
