The Children's Aid Foundation welcomes
new Chair,
Peter H. Lee

"Over the course of the years you get to meet some of the children and youth we're having an impact on. That's the best part of working with the Foundation," says Peter Lee, who took the helm as Chair of the Foundation in September.

Peter became involved with the Foundation more than 10 years ago, and joined the Board in 2004.  For the last 20 years, Peter has worked in financial services and brings strong business acumen and focus to the Foundation.  His perseverance has played a key role in the Foundation’s growth and expansion over the years.

As a father of three, he relates to some of the challenges the Foundation’s children and youth have to overcome and recognizes just how much harder it could be without support or a helping hand.  “Children are our future.  When you are able to make a difference in their lives now you are making a difference in tomorrow’s society.”

For Peter, the Foundation’s education programs are front and centre. “There is nothing like arming and preparing our children and youth for learning, advancing, and overcoming challenges.  Studies have shown that education gives great opportunity for the future and helps break the cycle of disadvantage.  Education also has a lasting impact as we help the next generation become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Peter comes into the position of Chair on the heels of an economic downturn, which has been difficult for non-profits but more so for the people who rely on non-profits for services and support. He sees the opportunity to keep expanding our services to those who need it while also growing as an organization. “The Foundation is already moving in an exceptional direction.  Lots of great work has already been done but I see us achieving even greater milestones and continuing to impact the lives of more and more children.”

Peter adds that it has been a privilege to work with fellow board members and outgoing Chair, John Sherrington, “The board, along with Ann Barnard Ball and the staff at the Foundation, are great people to work with.  Their focus and passion gives the Foundation the drive it needs to make as big of a difference as it does to so many children and youth across Canada.”

“The Children’s Aid Foundation welcomes Peter as Chair of the Board,” says Ann Barnard Ball, Executive Director. “Peter’s passion and commitment to the Foundation over the years has been inspirational.  It is truly an honour for me to work with Peter in this role.  The Foundation is blessed with an incredible Board, and with Peter’s vision and leadership, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of more Canadian children who need us most.”
