Procter & Gamble helps children Live, Learn and Thrive
For almost twenty years now, P&G has supported the Children’s Aid Foundation as part of their Live, Learn and Thrive program.
“By partnering with the Children’s Aid Foundation, we at P&G feel that we can directly help to improve the lives of abused, neglected and at risk children in Canada,” says Paul Young, External Relations Manager for P&G Canada. “And that means a lot to both the organization and our employees.”
Last year, P&G renewed their support of the New Horizons: Healing and Hope project which provides counseling and varied support services to refugee families with children aged five to twelve. Some immigrants to Canada have fled from war-torn or politically repressive countries and arrive with young children who have been affected by what they have gone through. These children may have witnessed events such as the rape of a family member, gun fire or excessive violence; some of these children have even been child soldiers. With P&G’s support, 54 additional children were able to participate in the New Horizons project, for which the Children’s Aid Foundation is very grateful.
P&G’s support didn’t end there though. In 2008, P&G also sponsored ‘Santa Land’ at the Holiday Season Celebration, giving over 1,000 children in foster care the opportunity to meet and talk with the man of the season himself, Santa. Additionally, P&G Canada head office made a significant donation of toys that were given out to the children in attendance at the celebration.
“We are thankful for P&G’s contributions and support over the years,” says Niki Gastis, Senior Manager, Sponsorship and Corporate Giving. “We look forward to partnering with P&G and their Live, Learn and Thrive initiatives for years to come.”
