Surrogate Santa brightens up the holiday

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, hundreds of families were able to have a memorable holiday season.

For the past seven years, the Surrogate Santa program has
been brightening up the holiday season for hundreds of families in the Greater
Toronto Area. Yet this year may have been the most significant one yet.
The Surrogate Santa program is designed to help those who
struggle to meet their day-to-day needs have a holiday season to remember.
“This program is one of our most heartwarming. So many people from around the
GTA come together to help those in need have a memorable holiday,” says Rebecca
Llewellyn, Manager, Development and Community Relations, Children’s Aid
Foundation.
Individuals and corporations participated in the program by
either sponsoring a family or youth, fundraising online, or making a donation. Through this generosity, hundreds of disadvantaged families across the GTA were helped.
With presents flying out the door right up until December 23rd,
the Children’s Aid Foundation, in partnership with 97.3 EZ Rock, was able to
provide toys, gift cards, clothes, sports equipment, household supplies, school
supplies, books, and food vouchers to over 1,800 families and youth in need
this year!
Thank you to those who participated in the 2009
Surrogate Santa program for your overwhelming support in the community. And
don’t forget to mark your calendars to get involved in 2010!
JJ Bear does it again!
|
Our
cute and cuddly JJ Bears were once again sold at
participating RONA outlets across Ontario throughout the 2009 holiday
season. Funds was raised this year through the sale of JJ Bears and the
option to donate $2 upon check-out.This year more than 5,500 bears were sold.
Evanov Radio Group and Blade Creative Branding have been long standing sponsors of the JJ Bear campaign. With the addition of RONA in 2008, the Children's Aid Foundation has been able to bring JJ Bear to a provincial level working with participating retailers across Ontario.
RONA is the only corporation that has a province-wide
scholarship program for youth in the care of a children’s aid society. We would
like to extend a heartfelt thank you to RONA, Evanov Radio Group and Blade Creative Branding for their support. |

RONA President and CEO, Robert Dutton, and Children's Aid Foundation Chairman of the Board, Peter Lee, met to kick off this year's JJ Bear campaign. Karen, from the Stockyards store, and Dominique, a youth who received a RONA scholarship from the Children's Aid Foundation also gave a helping hand.
