Joe Carter, the baseball legend famous for hitting a walk-off home run to win the 1993 World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays, hit another one out of the park alongside his friends in sport for the ninth annual Joe Carter Classic.

Joe and other sports greats hit the links to Stand Up for Kids, raising funds for Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada’s Joe Carter Family Support Fund and Joe Carter Scholarships. The Foundation received proceeds in the amount of $161,400 from the event.

The 2018 Joe Carter Scholarship recipients, ASHLEY, JADA, and SUZIE, were honoured at the event for the academic ambition and future goals.

“Education was the one thing that always kind of grounded me and I think, very early on, I always knew that education was important because it was going to be my way out.” – ASHLEY

“It’s giving me the opportunity not just to build a career or to learn a new field of study but to build a lifestyle that’s my own choice to help me break the cycle, so I’m making my own life and not just following in the footsteps of something that I was born into.” – JADA

“I’d like to say thank you for keeping our dreams alive.” – SUZIE
